Case Study: solution for IT
A leading IT company specializing in the development of AI technologies manages a large and constantly changing volume of data storage media. Its infrastructure includes various types of devices, from traditional hard disk drives and SSDs, to smartphones, tablets and other electronic media.
The company needed a secure and efficient way to dispose of these media, while following a clearly defined internal procedure. For magnetic media, the process required two stages: first, irreversible data destruction through degaussing, followed by physical destruction of the media. Other types of media required physical destruction only.
With a significant volume of devices to process, the customer was looking for a solution that could support both workflows while keeping the entire process fast, simple and secure.
ACTION TAKEN BY THE CUSTOMER
What steps has the IT company taken?
- Reviewing available solutions
The team focused on solutions capable of handling different types of media while supporting both degaussing and physical destruction within a secure and efficient workflow. - Securing the budget
This ensured that the planned process could be introduced without compromising the required level of security, efficiency or operational capacity. - Assessing the available space
Particular attention was given to the available space within the data center, including the requirements for positioning the equipment.
SOLUTIONS RECOMMENDED BY PRODEVICE
Integrated data destruction with ProDevice DAC

ProDevice recommended the DAC system, combining the ProDevice ASM240 Ultimate degausser with the ProDevice DGX03 shredder in one integrated solution.
For magnetic media, the recommended procedure consists of two consecutive stages: degaussing followed by physical destruction.
With the DAC system, degaussed media pass directly into the destruction chamber, eliminating the need to transfer them manually between separate machines.
For flash-based and other non-magnetic media requiring physical destruction, the degaussing stage is omitted and the media are sent directly for shredding, provided they are compatible with the DGX03.
This approach allowed the customer to maintain its internal security procedure while making the destruction process faster, simpler and easier to manage.

Secure media storage and controlled collection
ProDevice also recommended introducing controlled storage for media awaiting further processing or destruction.
Within the data center, available space in existing 19″ server racks can be used with the ProDevice MSS (Modular Storage System), converting rack space into dedicated, controlled media storage.
For larger-scale or distributed media collection, the process can be extended with ProDevice SMC smart containers. They provide a dedicated point for collecting and securely storing data-bearing media until the next stage of the process, helping organizations move away from uncontrolled temporary storage and establish a defined procedure for media awaiting destruction.

THE RESULTS
After implementing several recommendations, the company noted some significant benefits.
- Faster processing
The integrated workflow reduced the number of manual steps required to process large volumes of media. - Media-specific destruction workflows
Magnetic and non-magnetic media follow clearly defined destruction paths based on the appropriate technology. - Controlled media storage
MSS and SMC provide dedicated storage and collection points for media awaiting further processing. - Better use of data center space
MSS turns available 19″ rack space into controlled storage without requiring additional floor space. - Greater control over the process
The implemented approach creates a more structured process from media collection and storage through to final data destruction.
